How to issue a refund
How to issue a refund
Mistakes happen. If you need to refund a customer, Morgan AI makes it straightforward.
Refunding a card payment
You can refund any card payment processed through Morgan AI.
- 1Go to the Income tab
- 2Find the payment you want to refund (use search or scroll to the date)
- 3Tap the payment to open the details
- 4Tap Refund
- 5Choose a full refund or enter a partial amount
- 6Confirm the refund
The refund is processed immediately through Stripe. The customer will see the refund on their card statement within 5-10 business days, depending on their bank.
Partial refunds
You can issue a partial refund if you don't want to refund the full amount. For example, if a customer paid $200 and you want to return $50, enter $50 in the refund amount field.
What happens to the processing fee?
For full refunds, Morgan AI refunds the card processing fee to you. For partial refunds, the processing fee is not returned, this is standard practice across payment processors.
Can I undo a refund?
No. Once a refund is issued, it cannot be reversed. If you issued a refund in error, you'll need to ask the customer to pay again.
Refunding cash or e-transfer payments
If a customer paid by cash or e-transfer and you need to refund them, you'll need to return the money directly (cash, e-transfer, etc.). Go to the Income tab, find the recorded payment, and tap Delete or mark it as refunded to keep your records accurate.
Time limits for refunds
Card refunds can be issued at any time, but Stripe may decline refunds for transactions older than 180 days. For older transactions, you may need to send the refund as a new payment to the customer.
